Hollow form

This one is a hollow form made from Fijian raintree. Must admit to cheating a little. The blank was split horizontally, turned and rejoined. The joint was packed with three millimetres of veneer to maintain the grain flow and concealed behind a veneer banding strip. The 'neck' is laminated silver ash. The job is 400mm diameter and 120mm deep. Wall thickness is 5mm.

Very impressive work Jim! Love the rich brown color of the raintree! Great design on the banding strip! Really like the larger size of this - 15.75" diameter x 4.75" tall x 3/16" thick! I love doing hollow forms but have yet to make anything close to this size! Very nice work!
