This one is a piece of maple burl. Hard as nails to turn but I think its nice looking wood. Measures 7'' wide and 9 1/2 high over all. Seal coat finish and wax. Thanks for looking.

Mike, that is some pretty wood, but I love that form!

That's a beauty Mike. Form is spot on. I love the bark inclusions also. You did a great job with those and this piece.

The whole thing is wonderful! Awsome wood and form! I can't say I really am crazy about the look of the lid sitting flush with the top. That bark inclusion is really cool!

question to the rest of you burl people.: is this and other peices like it really a burl since it doesnt have the eyes or is it just extra growth thats not burl

Mike - you really have the forms down to a science! Beautiful work - great looking wood! Amazed you managed to keep the bark intact - mine went flying at warp 2!

Mike,
The little flare at the top and flat lid are different and extremely interesting! I think they add a lot to the piece without detracting in the slightest from the great looking burl.
