I've searched SMC and the net, but can't find quite what I'm looking for. I'd like to make a small outdoor table using mesquite branches for the legs and preserve the bark. Does anyone know if this is possible, and how to best accomplish it?
I have read that the tree should be harvested in cold weather to make sure the sap is down to keep the sapwood from shrinking too badly and making the bark fall off. With mesquite, I don't think the sapwood is ever very "dry".
