One of our Home Depots has on clearance (and they have more than one) a Milwaukee fixed base 1 3/4 HP router. I didn't write down the model number, but according to the specs it is 11 amp, but it appears (unless I read it wrong) to be only a single speed (24,000 rpm) router. It's on clearance for $65, and it shows its regular price to be $158.

Sounds like a 5615. For $65, I'd grab it and I already have one. I love it. I set it up with an offset base and use it for edge treatments and the DT jig. I've used is a half dozen times this morning as a matter of fact.

If it is of any future interest, the 5616-24 Combo kit 2.25HP VS motor and bases are all interchangeable with the 5615. I have that kit as well. Also a 5625 in the table.

No, I'm not an employee . . . I have other brands as well ;-)

P.s. Where are you, I may go grab one.

I would take it as a spare & leave it set up with a dovetail bit just for use with a dovetail jig.

Milwaukee quality is unbeatable.

I don't know the tool, but for $65 for a name brand 1 3/4 horse router I'd buy one if for nothing else to have as a backup, or to have as a dedicated job tool (I have an old router dedicated to a plywood dado bit). .......or sell it on Craigslist for $100. :D :D

This is my favorite router out of 10. Great for hand held use and I have mounted it in a table. I wish I had the extra money to buy another.Don't let it get away.

Any decent router for $65 is a buy it now kinda deal. Even if I set it up with a roundover or dovetail bit it is well worth that money anyday.

Buy it for $65 and ship it to me. I'll send a check today.

That's a surprisingly strong router for it's amp rating, feels good in these hands, and is built like a tank. That's about half price....they'll go fast!

Buy it Louis. It's a very nice hand held router. I'll be at my local 'Borg today looking for electrical stuff. If they have that router at $65.00 I'll be buying one.;)
