I have the opportunity to buy a delta 46-745 16" vfd lathe with a stronghold
chuck, one way spindle rest and several other goodies for $800 and this lathe is nearly new. Anyone have this lathe and what do you think of it?
Is this a good deal? I presently have a delta 46-715 with the reeves
drive which i don't really like.
Thanks, Byron

I have a good friend with that lathe and he really likes it and I'd say that's a good deal.

It sounds like a good deal to me. I just checked eBay and one is listed asking for a starting bid of $10,000.00......yes 10k.
A Taunton Press article said they sell for around $2,000.00.

Looks like it has plenty of power... and the stronghold is a bonus! I think it's a deal.

If it is the one in David's link with the extra's you better jump on it. That is a good deal.

Well it was such a good deal that someone bought it for less than $800
while i was in church for easter services. Always a day late and a dollar
short.
