Do any of guys know of a source for sheets of UHMW that are imbedded with fiberglass? I know they exist because some boat builders use it. But they, of course, won't give of their secret sources and I can't seem to find it any where on the net. There are plenty of sources for the double slick-sided UHMW, but none (so far) for the fiberglass one side kind. And that is really the only kind you can effectively bond to a whitewater boat hull. In case, you are wondering, I built a boat like this: http://wileywales.com/dory.htm except I will be using it on the Snake and Salmon rivers here in Idaho which are considerably more rocky than the Colorado. That's why I need the UHMW protection.

This is the best that I could find. They have a setup to epoxy the uhmw to the boat.

Regarding the fiberglass impregnated uhmw, I came up empty when googling. Are you sure it was uhmw? If it truly is, I would find the nearest town with a good boat building industry and call every plastic supplier in that area.

These folks actually mention fiberglass backed UHMW on their website. Fiberglass backing (http://http://www.ultrapoly.com/Pages/co_overview.html) I did a search for fiberglass backed UHMW and had several possible locations.

There is a UHMW manufacturer located in Maine. They might be able to help.
