Hello to all,

Does anyone know of any good turning classes/schools in the Minneapolis area? I've got a business trip coming up in early june, and have a full day free before my flight departs out of MSP, so would love to find a turning class to take for the day.

I'm interested in learning about hollow vessels, but could also use some remedial work with my skew.

I did a google search and left messages with both the local woodcraft store and some place across the river in Wisconsin. Will also send a note to the local woodturning club.

Thank you all!

Stephen

Check out this link to Quiet Elegance. The site belongs to my cousin, David Schneider who has been teaching me woodturning. He can customize lessons to focus on your skill level and specific areas of interest. He turns on a Oneway 2436 in his basement studio and as you can see if you look at his gallery, he is a masterful woodturner and a good instructor. He has contact information on the website.

I'm pretty sure there's a active AAW chapter there. You could email or call the club contact and ask which of their members teach.

The AAW website lists all the chapters by state and their contact information. I won't post a direct link to them since that's against forum rules, but it's easy to find if you Google it.

i have never been impressed with the local Woodcraft classes, but that's my opinion. There is a place just over the border into Wisconsin:

It is a good school, but the classes are limited.

The master of the skew, Alan Lacer, lives just 30 miles from the MSP airport. http://alanlacer.com/
