Still deciding where I want to place it in my shop.

Still waiting on the electrical work too, so I have a little time yet.

But the GOLD is HERE! http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowyes.gif http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowbiggrin.gif

I got myself a couple hours sleep. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowlaugh.gif

I have the legs on it, need to flip it over soon as I find the perfect spot for it in my shop.

I have it on a moving dolly wheeling it around moving my tablesaw ect..

I can't wait to get the electrical work done but at least I still have the Jet 1442 hooked up. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowsmile.gif

I think the ~GOLD~3520B is going to be a real good fit for ME. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowyes.gif

If it's a good fit for you, Don't hesitate to call ToolNut AFTER you get your best price, they beat Osolnik by over $120.00 with the accessories I chose to get with it.

I recieved everything I ordered, all in good shape, the local trucking outfit used (Estes)was very good no games at all about the liftgate, It was set up with me for delivery today between 10AM-3PM the truck arrived at 10:01AM the driver brought it down on his pallet jack and we push/pulled it up the slight hill of my driveway right up to my garage.

I'd buy from ToolNut again in a heartbeat. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowyes.gif :D

Thanks,

I plan on it as soon as my electrical work gets done.

I have been moving stuff around in my shop trying to figure out a good workflow for the lathe and other tools used in turning, bandsaw, grinder ect. placement.

I hope to be up and running very soon.:D

Wow Scott....that's one nice looking lathe there bud!!! Congrats!!!! Oh, and do get some sleep...........if you can with all the excitement. :p :D

Scott Hubl
03-21-2008, 11:43 AM
Thanks, i'll try getting some sleep, its been hard since the day I decided to order it up.

The new electrical box started going in last night, got as far as switching out the boxes and getting the lights and outlets wired back in.

We were in the 50's yesterday, today it's in the 30's with SNOW and a winter weather warning advisory.

So HOPEFULLY he will show up this afternoon to wire in the new circuits, i'm adding 2 more 220's and a couple more 110's.

Is 12G wire OK for the lathe on the 220? Or should I insist he use 10G?

I am setting up a 220 20 amp for the lathe.
A 220 15 amp for a Gast Vac Pump.
A 110 15 amp for a direct overhead light and a plug in for using power drills for sanding and such.
And a 110 20 amp for my HF DC unit.

Can anyone think of anyother circuits needed?

Larry Marley

Way Cool Scott!

Scott Hubl
03-21-2008, 10:34 PM
Thanks.:D

Power is all in , ok almost, still need to run a 110 20 amp line for the DC. But ran out of 1/2 conduit for that and it has a longer run.

But the GOOD stuff is in. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowwink.gif

Now all I have to do is swap out the 6 ft. power cord for the 15 footer I bought and install the Remote switch.

The lathe itself is all put together and cleaned, I used Boesheild on the bed and bottoms of the other machined pieces. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowbiggrin.gif

The lathe is not in it's permanent spot as it will be closer to where all the electrical work was going on.

But its in a spot I will be able to turn something while doing odds and ends. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowwink.gif

Trying to make a whole turning station area with my downdraft table across in front of me and DP on one side and BS on the other. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowsmilewinkgrin.gif

That little 18" bed is alot heavier than I thought it would be. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yelloweek.gif

Any pointers on hooking up the new cord and the remote switch?

I made it easy and installed 2, 220 outlets on seperate circuits on the wall under the window.

But we did run a box with 4 110 outlets overhead, So that will take care of a lathe mounted light, a flouresent fixture overhead and give me 2 other plugs one for power sanding with the HF angle head drill and one open for something else.
:D:cool:

The power is in! The cord is on! The remote switch is wired in!
 IT"S ALIVE!
I wired in the remote switch and the 15 footer power cord and Fired my Baby up late last night.:D

She's Smmooth.

Heres the dual 220 outlets one is 20 amps and one is 15 amps.

Heres the 4 110 outlets on their own circuit overhead.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p59/AmericanAndProud/GOLD%203520B/101_1613.jpg

Just need to get some more conduit to run the new curcuit for my DC and i'm all set.

VERY COOL.

Heres the dual 220 outlets one is 20 amps and one is 15 amps.

In the picture, the receptacle you can see has the 3 prong circular pattern (hot, hot, ground). Is that the plug configuration that the 3520b comes with?

Alex

Scott Hubl
03-26-2008, 2:46 PM
You have to buy your own "plug" to match your receptical.

The 3520B comes with a 6 foot long power cord without a plug on the end.

I added a 15 foot long cord and bought matching plugs and recepticals.

Thanks for the info. My head almost spun when I went to the electrical isle at the Depot. So many combinations for 220...

Scott Hubl

If you put in 220 with a 20 amp breaker get a 220,20 amp rated plug, if 15 get a 15amp.

Congrats on your new lathe. I've heard these don't come with the allen wrenches needed to attach the legs. Any truth to that?

Cheers,

Thats the truth. I used one from a HF "T" handled set and one regular one.
Not sure of the size off hand.

Thanks Ron,
My garage/shop is pretty FULL. I was suppose to be making Mission , Arts&Crafts type furniture then turned a Pen at Rockler one day. 7 lathes later.
Still want to make some furniture.
CP,
You gotta play with your toys/tools, try them out in all ranges.;)
Thanks Glenn,
I sure am, now I need to practice practice practice and enjoy my time at it.
Thanks James.

Why is the belt on the low speed pulleys?

CPeter
My 3520B has been on the high speed pulleys only a couple of times. Most of what I turn is big enough to warrant the low-end range. :)
