?s for anyone who has made a V drum sander

1. How did you cut the hole on the top where the drum sands through?

2. Has anyone made one where you can use it as a conventional drum sander and as a surface sander? If so, can you post pics if you have them.

I used a jigsaw with the blade tilted at an angle to cut the hole in mine. I'm thinking about redoing the whole thing to make it into a thickness sander though. I works quite well as a surface sander now but I figure as a thickness sander it will get double the use.

I figure I could make it to do both.
It would rock to have a 30" thickness and surface sander for under $400.
