mini Ligno E/D S/D - How do they work?

I'm curious how these work with various wood types. :confused:
According to their web site the E/D and S/D (two of the lower end meters) have 2 settings for wood species.
How do these work with the wood species other than those two?
I've heard good things about these so I assume they work, I'm just curious how.

We have the Mini Ligno , it comes with a chart for different wood species and other building products , so I think it covers a range of different woods , IF the ones you are talking about are similar to the mini.

Probably about 20 different species are covered , roughly.

I bought it in the late '90's. It has a 2 position switch, 2 & 3 dunno what happened to 1;). The included chart covers all the domestic species I've needed to check. There is also a temperature correction chart. I suspect the newer models need fewer charts. I did find that when the 9 volt battery got week it read high. I had some wood that had been in my basement for weeks and should have read 6-8% was reading 14-16% and wasn't dropping. I put a new battery in it and it then read as expected.
