Way back in December of 2006 Horst Hohoff posted a picture of a triangular walnut candle holder. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=47827

The picture was still there last week but I am not seeing it now. It was extremely nice and had a glass cup for the candle. It kind of stuck in my mind but I never got around to trying a triangular turning until now.

Mine are red oak and much smaller than the one Horst posted. They use standard tea light candles that have their own aluminum cup.

They were kind of fun to make so I took a few pictures and put together an article on how I did mine.

Maybe Horst will put his picture back up or post a copy of it in this thread.

Thanks for looking
Bob

Bob - very nice work on both the candleholders and your photos! I remember the thread from Horst and this does remind me of his turning. The candleholders look great - really good job on centering! Also - your How-To article was an interesting read. Keep up the good work!

Bob,

I just checked Horst's posting in the link you gave and the pictures are there.

Great looking "turnings" and the name is making me hungry.

Nice candle holders & I really liked your tutorial. I was surprised that these are turned triangular. I would have thought that waste blocks were adhered to the 3 sides and then sheared off after the turning was complete. I learn something new every day.

Very nice.

BTW, Horst's pictures are displaying fine for me right now.

Hello,
Nice to see that somebody took up my idea to make his own version of it. I take it as a big compliment. Bob, you made an excellent job of it and it looks like you do them just the way I do it.
Cheers
Horst

PS The pictures of my Nussecke should always be there. But the pictures are stored on my private webspace. If they don’t show there might be something wrong with the connection to that server.

Thanks, all, and especially thanks to Horst. Yes, the pictures are there now. I don't know why I couldn't see them when I made the original post.
