Spring for North Bros 75 jaws

Does anyone know where I might be able to buy a spring for a North Bros 75? I picked up a brace, but the spring didn't survive disassembly. So either it was close, or I'm more ham fisted than I thought. Probably the latter...

Is it a coil spring, or one of those hairpin springs?

If the former, your local hardware store may have a selection of springs from which you can select the nearest fit.

If the latter, a bearing shop may have some piano wire or similar that could be used to shape a spring.
