Joe Meazle and I cut down 6 walnut trees last oct and the sawmill just finished cutting them. We got 1400 bft of 5/4 Walnut. Total cost $.39 a bdf. Looking forword to using it next year. No pic didn't happen so here is the pic.

Sweet deal. Alot of woods in PNW we dont have that we have to pay a premium for. Cherry, Walnut and Rock Maple, that east coasters find cheap like there own trees!:D

I bet you'll sneak out there and run a hand plane over one of the boards to see what the grain looks like before it's dry ;)

Hoping to have a pile about half that size here pretty soon...

I just want to add the Mark Cothern helped a little too. He has already made several turnings with what would have otherwise gone to the brush pile.

BTW thanks Rick for not disclosing the location of the stash.:D

That pile looks just awful. Can't be used for anything more than firewood.

Nice. Make sure you keep it under cover and well weighed down. Are you going to seal the ends. Paraffin is one of the best deals there.

Plenty of nice walnut and cherry grows in Oregon. I have about 300 bf of Walnut that I milled myself. I took down two trees and my neighbor took down one and gave me the trunk after he took the crotch. It was 32" in diameter at the smallest point and 8' long!

Im aware of claro walnut. Not cherry though. Didnt think there were any on westcoast as far as timber forest type.
Gobywalnut dot com is a cool site.
