My basement shop is 26 x 26' with a 3 x 6' chimney base in the middle of it. The east side has a walkout door that opens onto my garden and a hockey rink sized pond.

To simplify things ALL Cases, Shelves, Cabinets, Tills, Drawers, Etc... are from the Transfer Station and rebuilt/refinished to fit in my shop.

I added compressed air piping to the shop last year.

Starting with the most important piece, the Bench. Mine is made from recycled materials I found in the dump. It is 3 x 6' with a Record knock-off vise and a Homemade leg vise on the other. The drawers are from an old oak desk.

I have surrounded it with hand tools which I'm trying to learn to reach for first.

Here is a close up of the overhead. The magnetic strips work well.

Before you get alarmed about Chisels overhead, I built a protective cover for them so they can't get knocked off. I also have a De-magnetizer that I use on them when I sharpen them.

Behind the bench ( West Wall) is where I store most of my Hand Tools.

On the far end is a cabinet that I store some tailed tools, SS glass, TS blades, and Hand Tools on the door and above.

To the right is my Plane Till, A tool storage cabinet/assembly table and a cabinet that I mounted 3 of my 5 grinders on. I HATE to change wheels.

This is my Drill Center. The cart was the last piece I found in the dump and with drawers on the opposite side also, it holds most everything drill related.
The large drawers next to it has the rest of it.

In the winter I brew beer.

In the center on the opposite side of the bench I have a few more saws and a small wood stove. When we burn wood up in the house the basement get too cool wo/the boiler running.

And one more saw, my CMS w/blade in the shop for sharpening.

And just in case you think it's a good size shop with enough open space, here is a pic of the junk I've been pushing around to get the pics taken.

Here's some links to other things in the shop.

Here's a link to the air cleaner I made. I used furnace filters and then a paper Vac Bag behind it, with a double squirrel cage blow to power it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many drawers in one place!
Nice shop, thanks for the tour!

Nice space, and it looks like you are making the most of every inch. I like the use of salvaged materials. I've done some dumpster diving myself and gotten some good stuff that way. I have several metal filing cabinets and drawers that I picked up when they were remodeling at my office building last year. They really do make for great shop fixtures. If I can ever get my shop to a state worthy of photographs I'll have to put up some pics to "prove it". Thanks for sharing!

Bruce, All the draws are full 'cept 2 and I know what in them.

Tim, When I was moving here I needed shelving. In a matter of 2-3 weeks I pick up 60' widthwise of shelves, or 20 shelf units, out of the dump.

Jim That's because I have Wayyyyyyy too much stuff!

But I'm working on that, Yard Sale this spring! I'm going to have a Blow Out Tool Sale. But I don't think that will affect all that hardware. My sons are going to have to clean that out.

This shop is only the half of it. I still have a barn full.
