I am wanting to find some of the LONG power strips. But they can't ALL be as expensive as these, are they?

anyone know where else to look. I've been looking for "Rack Power Strip" on Google, but only seem to come up with ones in the $100 range. I want to mount these on the walls around the shop.

What does everyone else use?

Plugmold puts out a 6' strip that has outlets 6,12 or 18" on center. The price is a little better. A 6" on center will run around $60-70.

I'm lucky, I picked some up for the office in the shop (the electronics room) when they where more reasonably priced.

For the shop I bought a couple of boxes of 10 each receptacles and built a shallow channel out of wood and mounted them spaced evenly apart. Sized right the covers will fit over the channel perfectly. All I had to do to mount the receptacles was to remove the mounting screws and replace with a wood screw. With a piece of wood between each receptacle and a light stain, it looks very nice and was far cheaper than the prefab racks.

Here's where I bought the two that I have mounted to my workbenches. I have a Fry's about 15 miles from me so I didn't pay shipping.

Hmm... something tells me that mounting receptacles in a wooden channel/surround is not allowed per code... I would think only non-flammable enclosures are allowed around receptacles to protect from arc/short/sparks/heat catching fire. That's why they use boxes in house construction.

Neat idea, but I wouldn't do it.
