Hi guys;
The bar behind my house is having a "Crazy Hat" contest tomorrow night. It is part of their St. Pats. celebration. I thought maybe a wooden hat may be in order. The hat is made out of Box Elder. It is quite a bit thicker than I would have liked but being the first attempt at this I wasn't to sure how much extra shaping I would have to do so it would fit my unround head. I had to do a lot of sanding to get it just right. Where is the warping when you need it.
Well what do you think? Crazy enough. By the way that is as large as I can get on my "little General".

If you made it out of GREEN wood, it should be just fine for the occasion and a sure winner. :D

Just put a flower band on it and you might even get more drinks, it would be more "cute" :rolleyes: Nice job !

Thanks for the vote of confidence all. As far as making it green, I thought about dying it but I didn't have any green dye and it really is not that smooth. It would show all my sanding marks too much.

I will guaranty that it will be worth more than one green beer even if I have to buy them myself.

Ron now that I look at it closer I tend to agree with you. I sure does look like a chamber pot. Maybe later tomorrow night????

Just for the record Lars My "little General" is my lathe. Not that there is much difference. LOL.

Thanks again guys. It should be a fun night.

Well Doug you ask what was next? I would be willing to bet that most of tomorrow will be spent sobering up............... I'm not as young as I used to be. Sure hope I don't talk myself out of going.
