Bloodwood workbench

It is finally done, the brass castings and all. The table is edge laminated 1 x 5´s and the legs and base are laminated 4 x 4´s. It weighs about 550 pounds.

The six drawers all have tops to keep them clean inside.

That sure did turn out great. At 550 pounds that is an anchor. I am assuming bloodwood is so common of a wood that it pays to use an exotic like that. That would be a very very expensive workbench here in the states. That is too pretty to use as a workbench.

First of all thanks everybody for all the nice comments.

The cost was really nothing as we cut up an old bloodwood that had been laying in the pasture for probably 50 years. The brass vice plates were the most expensive as the brass pipe we cut up and melted down cost about $150 .

The dogs have a vertical releif of about 1/16 of an inch so they come out very easily but fight tightly. Just so one doesnt put the bevel to the wrong side. Yes it is a left handed bench.

Oh my. That's the nicest workbench I've ever seen. I couldn't bring myself to use it, with the price of bloodwood up here.

What's going on? First we have a rosewood and teak box to hold Dowelmax components, now a bench made of bloodwood with custom brass castings. What's next.

Eric: I used regular white blue as the wood was kiln dried. I have never had a problem with white wood glue as long as the wood in properly dried.

Craig: No time for production runs of anything right now . We are overloaded as it is.

Don: I ended up sending it to the States and when there is time I will build another so I wont be using this one. It is on a ship now on its way to our warehouse in Houston.

Jim: It only took about 4 days as the glue dries slowly here but it did use close to 240 bf of rough KD lumber.
