Finished these up in time for a small craft show this weekend. I'll post a pic or two of my booth later.....and yes, there is scrollsawn stuff too! I've got 100 ornaments and other fretwork things for sale!

Arky Walnut, 11 x 4 at wings, 1/4" walls........pics make it look thicker than it is. Minwax WOP for finish, then buffed. I think this is my best NE yet.

Poplar, 10 x 3 w/ 1/4" walls. MW WOP finish. This was from some rescued wood that'd been on the ground for 3 years. FULL of carpenter ants.

Box Elder, 8 x 3 w/ 1/4" walls. MW WOP finish. Wood from the yard.

Wow Barry - you've been busy!

Love the Walnut! First glance you could swear that it a Mark Cothren original! Beautiful form, color, finish and bark! About as close to perfect as you can get!

The Poplar has some great colorization! I like the gentle rim treatment!

Box Elder really has a lot of color! I like the bark inclusions - adds to an already interesting piece!

Great work! Best of luck with your upcoming show! Hope you sell out of everything and get 4 months of commission work! Well I can hope for ya!

Hey Barry....did Mark Cothren give you that Walnut NE?? :p :p

Seriously, very pretty NE on the walnut. A very nice compliment to Mark Cothren for a Walnut NE done so well. :D

You have learned well "grasshopper". ;)

All are very nice, but I especially like the Walnut NE bowl. Everything about it is just right. Good luck at the show.

Well, the first MN CRAFT show is over. I had fun and did real well....., compared to the other vendors. Keep in mind there were 6 jewelry booths, the Come to your house and sell stuff crowd like Pampered Chef, etc, and about 12 dried floral arrrangements. I was next to the cloth shower curtain lady.................................

Didn't sell a single turning (LOTS of compliments), but the scroll work saved my day.. Very, VERY slow show. The vendors were all talking about how terrible the turnout was, shoulda seen it last year, blah, blah, blah. Best sellers were ornaments and Scripture Word Art (thank you Jeff Paxton).

Still, we had fun, learned a lot, paid for the booth and display materials. Also made enough to cover my entry fee and insurance for this show I am in this July www.phelpsmillfestival.com (http://www.phelpsmillfestival.com/) THAT crowd WILL buy the turnings!

Barry, I have and still do a # of exhibits at arts and arts and craft shows. I will not do one which make ME carry insurance. This is THEIR responsibility. One of the persons responsible for the show must be selling insurance or is a lawyer. A lot of artist and craft people will not exhibit at shows which require insurance.

Thanks folks!

And I hear you Glenn. Being new to the area (geez, new to the lower 48!), I'm just breaking into the show circuit around here. Competition to get juried into Phelps Mill is fierce, and the crowds with money come to it. I don't like the insurance charge either, but the booth fee's are low given the attendence and buying attendee's...... I spoke to many vendors last year and they have all done very, very well.

Really like that natural edge walnut Barry! Looks like retirement might be busier than working?
