So here are the pictures of the new lathe, it is up and running. It's not the mustard Cadillac (more like Buick Lucerne) the but it is sure a step up from the Jet 1236(Kia Spectra). Variable speed is a wonderful thing, being able to round out this maple blank without dancing all over the floor was a pleasure! A close second to the variable speed is the brake, no more waiting for the piece to spin down! It had a couple of paint chips, but those could have come from me wrestling this thing together. Headstock and tailstock line up perfectly, all along the bed, and the height is exactly 2" above my elbow with the feet screwed all the way in. (I'm 5'10") I'm a happy camper.... er turner now!

I've got one of these on order through Rockler, and I can't wait until it arrives. I placed the order last Friday and its been a LONG week waiting for it to come in. This is an upgrade from a 12" 46-700 Delta that I just sold, and while the Delta was ok for smaller stuff and spindle work, I can't wait to have the electronic variable speed so I can do some turning on larger bowls.
