I bought this kit with some Christmas money, and just had the chance to put it together last week. In all, I'm satisfied with the results, but it was not much fun to do, at least to me. I think next time I'll just buy a finished saw. I like making tools and all (especially planes), but I like using them better. Hats off to Joel and the guys at Gramercy, the kit instructions were perfect, and the handle shape really comfortable and attractive. Although I didnt follow the instruction of drilling out the waste first, I used a fine saw and chisels only, since I didnt have a brad point bit that size, and using a twist drill is not accurate enough, it will wander. Now all I have to do is start cutting some fine dovetails.

That looks great. I'd like to hear how you like using it, especially if you have any other saws to compare it to. Nice work,
Eric

Yeah, I'm interested in how it feels and performs as well. While I'm typically an old tools guy, this kit really calls to me. A saw in this style has not been manufactured in centuries and old ones are near impossible to come by. Short of building my own from scratch, this is likely my only option for a saw in this style. And the price is reasonable as well (for the kit).

Yes, please report back on how well the saw works, especially if you have something to compare it to. I'm also interested in the kit. It looks like it turned out well for you.

Good job!
