I re-sawed a piece of curly maple for the top of the pencil box I'm making. Been holding onto this piece of wood for about 4 years waiting for a bandsaw and a project that I thought was worthy of it.
It warped a little when I glued it but cleaned up nicely with a scraper and a lot of hand work.:o
Here's some more of the box //www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=79073

That's an incredible grain pattern! Have you decided what you are going to use to finish it?

Thought about a dye I read about in this months FWW. Not sure as yet, either that or tung oil. Maybe a French polish. Idea will come to me when my LOML decides:)
