Generally, whenever I try to use the Smilies pad on the left, it puts the smilie at the end of my text, regardless of the cursor's location. This is mildly annoying. Is this an "undocumented program feature", or merely a quirkie of the package?

Hi John,
Sometimes I have the same problem but not always. If the Icon boinks into the wrong spot, I just move it. No big deal really...;)

John -

Pretty sure it is an undocumented feature - i.e. quirk. All those things show up at the end including script tags. Apparently, if one has the foresight to actually know where and at what point your plan to use them, they would be correctly positioned. :)

I just drag them up to where I want them after I have finished (including the script tags).

Hey all-

This behavior happens for two reasons: :)

1. The smilies :D and the buttons insert text at the end
of a text box. This behavior is not due to the forum-- it turns out
that (programmatically) you can only insert text at the current
cursor location in Internet Explorer. Due to the high volume of
users that use other browsers, this feature is unsupported.

Incidentally, though it may not seem like it, as soon as you click
on one of those 'buttons', your text box loses whats called the
focus (and the button gets the focus).
When a textbox loses the focus, the cursor position is also lost.
(You can test this by positioning your cursor a few lines back,
then press the TAB key. Then, press SHIFT+TAB to go back.. and
voila, the cursor is at the end of the text box.)

Thus, when you click on another button, the cursor IS at the
end of the text box, which is where the special codes get
inserted, so even in IE, we don't get the desired effect.
Clear as mud? :)

Hope it helps!
