Decided to make a few finials today. Got out a chunk of Texas ebony to turn round. Definitely 6 sack concrete. To add insult to injury, it is also as brittle as a soda cracker. No glamour to the wood at all. Be warned. Max

Come on Harvey, it's not that bad. Actually, it's a favorite of mine in segmented work - good color. It's hard to find in "board" form. Anyone know a good source?
