I just cut up some green wood blanks and have a question. I know it is important to get the end grain sealed. Is it necessary to seal the exposed long grain? I squared most of the pieces up so there is not much bark left.

I leave most of my sap and bark on until ready to turn so I only seal the ends and i will often on fruit/tight grain woods get some cracking that most of the time turns away. Anyting you can do will help. Wrapping wiht several 30-50 sheets of news paper and taping, plastic wrap. ect..... or what ever. but most of the time i leave it alone and hope for the best.
