Mike, that looks really, really nice!!!
Did you use a set of plans for that chest? If so, where did you get them?
Thanks!

Keith, I got the idea from a previous post here. I did a sketchup plan and went from there.

Very nice.
Didn't notice some air holes in case your kid jumps in and closes the lid though.

Great looking toy chest Mike!!:)
How did you join the top end pieces - biscuits perhaps? hidden tenon?
and how are the corner posts attached to each side? ( upright to upright?)
Thanks again for sharing the pics!:D

Mike,
GREAT looking chest! I love the finish on that. How did you raise those panels?
I built two of basically that model with a set of plans I got from Furniture Designs Inc. (http://www.furnituredesigns.com/). The part I was MOST displeased with was how my finish came out (used a wipe-on poly). You can see them here: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=51036
Again, beautiful work!

Thank you all for your kind words.
Tim, the top is done with hidden tenons.
Irvin, I got the idea from your post:D, great looking boxes! I used a vertical raised panel bit on the router table. The corners are just the mitered panel edges. I'm quite pleased with the way they came out.:DI used BLO and 4 coats of Watco shelac for the finish.
