I guess we put fixtures under this forum, eh? You ever have one of those things that bugs you but never quite enough to stop and do something about it? Then one day it just hits you and something must be done? Happened with my ROS paper last night.

Took some scrap, an old arrow shaft and well, here's the pics:

The master plan:
83594
DP is out for service so electric hand drilling with a guide block it is:
83591
Round off the corners:
83590
Dado the sides (love those setup blocks. Beats measuring and marking):
83593
Holds odd-ball stuff on the bottom, each tray slides out and sets up top, land the ROS on it and the holes line up and away you go.

Now, what was I doin' when I got distracted . . . .

Very nice. It always surprises me how a small bit of organization can make my shop time so much more fun. I hated digging through my old pile-o-paper. ;-)

Hi Mike-

Nice unit.

Dumb questinon.. how did you finish it? I haven't used much MDF and have lots to learn.... I'm familiar with painting MDF but not finishing it in a "natural" state.

Thanks in advance.

Poly works fine on MDF.

Rockler sells something just like that for 5" sanding disks. See: http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=17886&filter=sandpaper

I bought one when they were selling them at a big discount (even cheaper than making one). They sure are handy.

Chris speaks true. I used up the last of a can of spray poly on this but MDF and shellac or other finishes will play together as well: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=65591

Tom, On my disc holder I used (low gloss) Homer Formby's Tung Oil (wiping varnish) that I picked up @ Lowes'......The MDF sucks it in like a sponge and it's almost dry to the touch the minute you wipe it on!
As far as protection goes, I think if you apply a couple of three coats it may build up some and help seal against moisture but I just applied one coat to "color" (darken) the MDF as I'm not to concerned about any wet condition near where I screwed it to the wall!!;) HTH
