I know people use old credit cards for decorative striping in pens and things but what is a good source for thin plastic of different colors??? Probably about .010 thick.

John,

I don't have a definitive answer to your question. I would use the old standby, Google!

I think I remember seeing thin pieces of thin colored plastic on Barry Gross's website www.bgartforms.com (http://www.bgartforms.com), but I just checked and couldn't find them. Maybe give him a call and see if he still has them. The number's on the site.

Would not be plastic exactly, but I am in the process of trying to nail down a source for Corian scraps from countertop installers for the purpose of resawing into accent strips. Just a thought anyways.

I'd look at Grizzly and see if I couldn't get some of the inlay material for lutherie.

Take a slow stroll through your local craft store. Maybe you will find something there that will work. I fond tubes of glittery kinda stuff that may work in castings at Michaels. :)

Thats an easy one. I have a ton of it from using it as spacers in knives.

This is but one place to get it...

It isn't plastic per se and is a tad soft but I have used it for spacing between section of a fingerguard or pommel built from metal. (Nickel silver, stainless or brass)

I have a good access to corian scraps and if you drop into a cabinet shop that does them you should be able to get drop offs free and maybe sink cutouts for next to nothing.

I have used guitar pickguard material. Check at a Luthier Supply - do a search for pickguard material and you will find several sources.

Plastic from cat litter buckets, for sale signs, gallon OJ jugs, or the lids from any of them. Look in your recycle bin, trash can, fridge, there are lots of sources around just have to be a little creative sometimes.

I went to hobby town a few years back and got some sheets 6" x 12" of styrene plastic when I was doing some model cars and I was making some custom work on a few cars. I found them again the other day and made a pen using that and works great. The bag has 2 sheets and the price back then was $1.98. They make them in .10 .15 .20 .25 .30 .40 .50 .60 .80 and thicker</SPAN>
