Finally tried to turn a platter. It's a scrap piece of Cherry 1"x 9". You have to start somewhere, right?

Thanks for the comments on the platter. The finish is friction polish first and then spray can lacquer over that. Simple and quick. Have a great day.

Seems like you started with the right foot. Very nice. The only thing you need to finish that piece is to sign it.

Nice.... If I had one "critique" it would be that the recess for the chuck remains.. I know it's difficult sometimes to get rid of things like that.. and it is the "bottom".. but I think it was Raffin, that said, "The finest pieces, show no evidence of how they were ever mounted on the lathe".. Don't take this as a smack.. You did some fine work there.
