Well finally, it's not a pen. Here is the Cherry Mug I worked on the last few days. This is a Christmas present that didn't get completed. It stands 6 1/4 inches tall without lid and holds 16 oz.

It is a beauty Jon. Was it a kit?

That's really neat! I'll bet you'd get alot of orders just by carrying one of those around and drinking out of it!

Jon:

Very nice. I have 4 of these kits from Woodcraft and have struggled getting the wood to fit nicely into the mug base. Any advice?

Thanks guys! I picked up the kit (which consist of the stainless inside and lid) at Woodcrafters. I actually wrapped it up with the 3" plate on while it was barely hollowed out to about1" think and 1/2" deep, to a friend for a Christmas present. I couldn't finish it until I got my Monster Tool... it was to deep for anything I had before.

Greg: I don't know what to tell you about sizing it. I just kept track with my protractor thingys and cut away.

Fellow Creeker, Brodie Brickey sells mug kits at his website:

http://www.smoothturning.com/main.sc

In addition to the 16 oz stainless steel mug kits, Brodie also has 16 oz stainless steel cocktail shaker kits -- guaranteed to make you look like James Bond as you make your shaken, not stirred, vodka martinis.

No, I don't have a financial interest in Brodie's kit sales. I can't even say I'm a satisfied customer. I just keep intending on buying some of Brodie's mugs. (I get confused for James Bond as it is, so I've no need for the cocktail shaker.)

About that base. Since I gave this as a present incompleted for Christmas. The friend told me they would like a wider base and not one that fits a cup holder. She's a school bus driver and I guess those things don't come with cup holders.
