Looks like noone told them that it was leap year and they announced a day early.

www.festoolusa.com

Also of note, they are stopping direct sales in a month and going to dealer based sales only.

Just got done looking at the new tools. The 2200 router looks awesome. Definitely my next router. The MFT looks like a basic improvement to the old one...looks like they made the angle gauge better which was needed.

2200 watts is 20 amps on a 110v circuit. If that was plugged into a vacuum it would exceed the current draw of every 110v outlet I've ever seen installed residentially. Do Festool's routers/vacuums run on 220v?

Interesting...

Nomimal is 120 V, which is about 18.3 A. (still would require a 20 A circuit)

Line in my area is 123 V. It can be as high as 125 or as low as 110. Lower than 120 means the electric company is cutting its output or too much resistance in your house wiring.

But what he said was that with a vacuum on the same circuit. Do their vacuums only draw 2.7 amps? Since a vacuum is part of the Festool symbol

Yep, I got their email. I don't know why they keep adding new products --- I haven't bought all the ones they already had.;):D:D

Seriously the new "tools" look like the Festool engineers have been working overtime again. I only wish that I could afford more of them.:(

Their vacuums are variable speed, and so is the router. I think that the vacuum draws like 1200 watts at full tilt, so you can seriously overload a 20A between this router and the DC.

The scuttlebut beforehand is that the new table(s) are higher than the current models.

If you have watched the exchange rate for dollar VS euro, the price hikes are hardly a surprise - pretty much a necessity if they want to continue selling them here without shipping their manufacturing to china.

Speaking of.. anyone know how much it will be after the price hikes next month? If it goes up by a lot I should probably get one before then.

i use dust collection on my sander and saw.the router dust collection works ,i do not use it however because it is such an effort to deal with the hose when routing.curious if many woodworkers use dust collection on their routing

these prices are in a totally different league now.a router for 800 and a trim router for over 510. i never hesitated to buy their domino because hey a lamello costs 700.but their miter saw costs over 1500 and their trim router over 500 i probaly will not buy.i dont mind paying some more for quality.i was hoping their trim router would not cost so much.i have the bosch variable speed colt for 80 dollars from amazon a few years ago. but this is a 400 dollar difference.i can buy the microfence unique base kit for 400.very disappointing.

It's the conversion rate. We are losing buying power fast. Welcome to the new world reality. :(

2200 watts is 20 amps on a 110v circuit. The router nameplate says 15 amps at 120 volts. Granted, that could be just to get past UL listings, because this is by far the largest router I have ever seen.

Yea, the dollar really sucks right now. It started with price increases from ups and fed ex because of gas not it is starting to affect everything I buy I can't even travel anymore.

But I agree 80 verses 400 is a big difference for a little motor that is not unique, at least the domino was new and unique. Festool is starting to get beyond my reach as a hobbyist I buy almost everything because I like tools but this is going to make me think.

I have to wonder how long will festool last in the states if the cost is so high.

I was immediately in love with the 2200 router. The quick change base plates were a feature that I would really like..but I thought about it for a few minutes and realized that I could get 4 or 5 routers for the same price and I would have no need to change bases ever. I realize that it isn't festool's fault for these price increases, but they are about to price themselves out of the market. From the looks of their price increases, they are absorbing more of the dollar plunge than they are passing along. The dollar is about half of what it was in 2000 compared to the euro.
