Here they are, pictures from Saturday. Quarter knees and inwales have been installed and the ribs cut off flush at the gunwales.

Pepe inspects my work. She even gave it a taste test.

Still need to put bungs over the screws.

I started on the stand today. The uprights will be laminated from maple and lyptus. Pictures when there's something worth photographing.

The sharp viewer might notice an improvement in the quality of the images over the last installments along with a decrease in the quality of workmanship in the cradle. That's due to the new Sony DSC-F828 I bought Saturday morning. I guess if I am going to keep taking pictures of my work, I'll either have to cut down on the wood filler or get a soft-focus filter for the camera. :D

Soooooo.... Dave......

Think she'll be seaworthy?

(Pictures are MUCHO better!)

Very nice, Dave! Superb quality. Oh, and the cradle is OK, too, I guess. :D Seriously, one good lookin' piece! Can't say from here if it's seaworthy or not, but I'll bet the future captain of that vessel will be happy! BTW, I enjoy seeing the updates. Kind of gives you a "step by step" visual. Nice job!

Dave,

Looks great! Have you ever built any boats?

Pete

Thanks guys.

Todd, fortunately this one doesn't have to be seaworthy. On the other hand, I suppose it should keep the water in if it gets swamped. :D

Peter, you're a jolly joker. :D I am building a boat. Actually, I know what you mean and yes, I have built a sailboat. 16' LOD 20' LOA Gaff-rigged sloop. Little cabin, wheel steering trailer sailor.

This cradle is the first planked boat I've done and it is built to plans I drew based upon an 8' pram. I changed the construction method from the original and did all the detail work so I can't blame anyone else.

Question, Dave: is it going to be on a stand or just rock on its bottom?

Dave,

Have you seen "The Secret of Roan Inish"? Check it out. That cradle is coming along magnificently.

Wow...so many fancy words for parts of boats! I need some Cliffs notes for your post! :D

All I can see is the superb craftmanship on a neat project...one that not a lot of people can build. I still remember Norm's sailboat from a couple years back...neat thing to build!

Mighty fine craftsmanship .

Pic's are great and the little fella in the first pic sure is cute.

Thanks folks. Tyler, I'd love to see you get in it--but not until after the kid has used it. :D

Ed, I haven't but I will have to rent it.

Lynn, it will hang on a stand that looks sort of like life boat davits on top and a trestle table on the bottom. At the top there will be a sheave on each upright through which a line will lead down to a split where it will go to each of the quarter knees. the other end of the lines will be lead to a horn cleat.

Chris sorry about the words. I wouldn't know what to call the parts else. I'll see if I can make you a little guide.

Thanks again, all.
