With all this talk recently, about natural edge bowls, I thought some one might be interested in this one. It is made from white cedar, a local rainforest species, and measures about 600mm long (24"), about 400mm (16")wide and about 165mm (6 3/4") deep. Flexing was a major, major problem and had to be finished by hand. The first photo is of the top and the second is the bottom.

The machine used was home built and can come down to 80rpm, and is capable of turning up to 1800mm diameter. The largest job I have done on it was an airconditioner diffusser for the ceiling of a restaurant, and the disc was 1500mm diameter and 180mm thick, turned to a saucer shape.

Jim - I think this is the biggest NE bowl I have ever seen! Lots of charactor - grain and worm holes! Nice work! Must of generated some kind of prop wash when spinning! Thanks for posting!
