When Sears closed out the 1617 clones last year I wanted to get one. I have two fixed base 1617s and wanted a plunge base. But I couldn't find one anywhere. A local store had a display unit missing the fixed base, the 1/4" collet and the wrenches, but they would only give me 10% off on it.
I went back today and offered them $40 for it. They took it! Heck of a buy; but most importantly, it is the first time I ever got a good buy at Sears.
