I am building a new router table for my new Incra fence system. The table will be 80" x 30" and pull dbl duty as an TS out-feed table.

I have built a router table before out of the standard MDF/laminate construction where the router plate sits on the lip and is leveled accordingly. My question is about the new Kreg Router plate levelers.

I have them in my hand, but to use them you would eliminate the 1/2" "shelf" the router plate would normally sit on. If I press forward with this method I can't go back so I was curious if anyone had any experience/thoughts on these or the premise.

Also, I'd prefer not to be constrained by the choices of laminate at the borg. Any one got a source for black laminate? I saw on Formica's web site they have a series of "tough" laminates. Any good sources would be greatly appreciated.
