I'm looking for a curved rest for my 1442. I think I want a round S shape with a tight bend on one end and a wide on the other end. I have seen one on a video but cant' seem to find one now. I've searched all my links and hit the first couple google pages and nothing comes up. I've seen the curved rest that Jet offers. Should I be thinking about a different type rest?

David,
I've run across this curved rest and considered it for my Delta 1440. I don't know which post goes with it to give it the right combined height. I measured and thought that the 1x3" post combined with the 2" high rest (5" total) would not be tall enough with a 14" lathe. I assume it was probably designed for a 12" lathe. I would call to ask if it will fit before ordering.

I did come up with a round rest it's not a S and it's pricey. Looks like I'll have to get two rest to get the different bends if I can't find the S.

David,
The link I posted is for an S-shaped toolrest. Delta also makes an s-curved rest with a 1" post but I don't know if it is tall enough for a 14" lathe.

I am using the Craft Supplies one on my 1442. It works fine except for small deep bowls, and then its mass or depth does not allow me to go deep enough for good tool support.

David,
Take a look at this one from Sears. When page comes up scroll down to the parts schematic..I just bought the whole kit and the rest looks to be at least an inch longer on each end than the one in above photo's. $16 and change doesn't seem too bad to me considering what I've seen similar go for on eBay.This is for the 15"Palm- gren. Hope I can advance soon to the ability to use this attachment!
