I was wondering if anyone had built a lift and storage type mechanism for a truck topper. I am looking for ideas/designs for a system that would let me lift it up and store it high. Im thinking it has some lag-eye bolts in the rafters and some ropes of some sort, but was looking for more advice/ideas.

this wont help much, but i HAVE seen that somewhere. Its similar to the bike lift with a hand crank and pulleys.

I am not much at drawing pictures but had a neighbor do this for his years back. Metal tubing used to form a rectangle about the width and length of the topper with eye bolts on 4 corners with straps to hang down and go under the topper. Chain from the 4 corners going up to a center connector ring. Cable fastened to the connector ring and up to a pulley fastened to the ceiling and centered over the topper. Cable from center pulley over to another pulley hung close to the wall to the right (or left) of the topper and then down to a hand crank boat winch mounted on the wall. He would pull the truck in, loosen the topper, slide the straps under and start cranking. Worked good for many years.

I thought I remembered a unique 'lift' on this site.

Dave,

That is exactly what I was looking for. I had run across that before too and knew it was out there, but had no idea how to find it.

Thanks for the link. I'll do that.
