I know of someone selling two 7519's for a very low price. I would like to add them to my collection, however I'm concerned about the fixed speed. Can this router be turned into a varible speed router? Ideas?

I don't know much about it but if it doesn't have soft start you can use on of those speed control boxes.

Bob,
The PC7519 is a single speed soft start motor. If you want to add speed control unit io it, you'll have to find a broken down 7518 and swap out the speed control unit.

That's sort of what I was thinking. Anyone have a 7518 they can give me for parts? Has anyone ever priced the cost of buying the parts new? Thanks.

I haven't priced for the 7518, but the replacement for the 8529 of mine that bit the dust is about 40.00, give or take a few depending on who you're getting it from. Sears parts actually had the lowest price for the unit itself, but shipping was higher. Might be able to save some on shipping if you buy it through a Sears service center. You can download the parts list from PC, then search for the part number on the web.
If you do this, it would be real easy to mount the speed control on the outside of the router table and run wires in to the router. You could keep the 7519 cap on it and drill some holes for the wires. It would be pretty slick! Jim.

On the PC site, the speed control module for the 7518 is P/N 875087 and lists for $95.48. You'd likely need a few other parts like the slide switch, etc.

Did a google search on the part number. Showed several in the 90 to 110 dollar range. Looked up Sears and, once again they have a better price. 79.15 plus shipping. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/retrievePartAction!search.action?productGroup=N%2F A&partNumber=+875087+ (http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/retrievePartAction%21search.action?productGroup=N% 2FA&partNumber=+875087+)
Go figure??? Jim.

Thanks, Jim, for a very interesting thought! I'd like to have the speed control of my table dedicated 7518 located in a more accessible spot. Maybe when I finish the current "honey-do" I'll tear mine apart and see what it would take to remove and remotely locate the speed control module.
