Hi all... I recently acquired some carving chisels that don't have handles (30 of them!). I'm looking to turn the handles using birdseye maple. Does anyone have a good source for 6/4 and 8/4 birdseye? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Bob, You can check out www.gilmerwood.com, They sometimes have turning squares of birdseye. I actually have access to birdseye but don't have much in the sizes you mentioned. You might also check out birdseyecreations.com. The forester who works for them buying birdseye is a relative of mine (by marriage) and I know they have stock on hand. You might have to call them to find out what they have. Mention the saleable scrap bins. Hope this helps....Paul
