Need to make several frames for my growing photo collection (my other hobby).

Show me your mitre sleds! Tell me what you like or dislike, etc.

Just to toot my own horn.......frames for images like these....

I got an Incra Build-It system. I don't really trust myself to make a good jig yet. The slightest error on a jig is compounded in the parts made.

The system is really nice and versatile. It was really easy to put together. Its kinda like playing with building blocks when you were younger.

I like your pictures. I have a Dubby sled that I have been using for over 17 years....love it...

Here is mine.

This is my second one, it is larger then the first which helps in cutting anything other then just small things.
This one is made of red oak and MDF with plastic rails.
I added a T Track to the fence for stops which I really like, the old one I just used a clamp and block of wood but a real stop is much better.

The other two pictures are my holder that holds it to the side of the saw stand and the thumb guard. The thumb guard is a must I think.

I can set this to any angle I like. I can flip the fence and have it at the front of the sled or the back. Includes a stop block on the fence, and I have hold-downs that go in the t-slots. It uses an Incra miter bar.

Mine's pretty simple, but it's accurate:

I saw this in a new Rockler catalog http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=18063&filter=table%20saw%20sled
They're doing free shipping. There's a Rockler in PA.(other end of the state) so I'd have to pay tax. Looks like a Dubby lookalike. I use an Incra miter gauge--works fine.

Hi Jim

I don't believe that you have the last issue of Wood Magazine. They selected my method as the "Top Shop Tip" (and I got the "Fein Multimaster Top")....sorry for "toot my own horn"

Anyway, that was my first post in SMC (almost 2 years ago) and you can see it here

This one might look strange but I can cut the frame stock to finish size on the chop saw then use this sled and get a clean miter cut, ready to glue, with very little splintering. The saw blade cuts in favor of the piece that is being used.

It is limited to 3" frame stock though.
