I am getting a 2 3/4 hp Milwaukee router. Do I need a special base to cut dovetails or will the base that came with it do?

Chris the router plate will work as is providing that you have the bushings needed that fit that router. A lot of after market bushings are set up to fit the Porter-Cable routers only. Some come with adapters that will make them work. I have a Keller DT jig and he uses bits that have guide bearings so that's not an issue.

I think Chris is asking if he will need to replace the stock router base, not what he will need to cut the dovetails.

Chris,
You don't have to replace the subbase. I replaced mine with Pat Warner's (http://patwarner.com/round_subbase.html) subbase because it is clear and it's easier to see whet I am cutting the dovetails.
