It is time to put a new belt on my Rikon midi, I was looking at the Linkbelt that WC carries. Has anyone bought and used one of these on their lathe, if so what is your opinion of them. With the belt that came with the lathe I am able to twist it into a figure 8 and reverse the lathe(only for sanding) at slowest speed. Is the Linkbelt strong enough to do this. Any pros and cons.

I don't think you will find that the link belt will work. My cousin tried it on his Delta midi which has almost the same pulley. It was a no go. I wouldn't try it on my Rikon.

If it takes a 3/8" std v-belt, I noticed Grizzly has a 4'er for under $20 (they were $12 the last time I checked...oh well).

I liked the link belt I had on my old Atlas lathe. I believe that there are 2 sizes, 1/2 inch and a smaller one, 3/8 maybe. It would be worth checking out.

Problem being the Rikon does not take a V-belt.
