http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p59/AmericanAndProud/13c3_2.jpgDoes anyone know anything about this 115vac.,4.2 amps,1 phase,60 hz. 1/4" fpt connections (1 input, 1 output)

Model # DOA-P101-AA

I was looking at it for vacuum chucking, does anyone have this unit and knows more about it?

Or does anyone just know more about it , will it work good for vacuum chucking?

Heres a thread I found on Gast Discussions
http://www.gastmfg.com/discus/messages/23/110.html?FridayMay2520010251pm

"DOA-P101-AA is a Gast standard unit set up as a pressure unit with a 6’ cord & plug only. Inlet is over motor outlet is to front of unit with no muffler. "

Thanks for any and all help.

Scott you need a rotary vane pump this one is a diaphragm style. It is the wrong type pump to use in this application. It requires a "clean" environment not the type of shop work you will be doing on a lathe. It also does not meet the CFM needs you have. You need somewhere in the range of 4.5 the pump you are looking at is 1.1. You should also look at 220V operation or a converter.

For another $40 you can get the 0532.

Hope this helps.:)

Thanks Chris,

I have two of the HoldFast Venturi style systems. (Love them and there Quiet as a mouse and work great.)

I also have a 220V Gast Pump too.

I'm looking for a more portable 110-115v Gast pump , Not everyone has 220 in their shops.

I have a "WTB" on CL for a 110V Gast pump and that is one that was a reply to my request on CL.

Thanks, keeping my fingers crossed for a deal on a 110V .:D

Scott,

I wouldn't say that a rotary vane pump is required, but they seem to be the most common. I have a Robinair 15102b pump that I use. It pulls 3 CFM and runs on 110V. It's an oiled (my preference), two-stage, offset rotary vane pump. I picked it up off ebay for $61.00 and paired it up with a vacuumaster chuck. It's actually very quiet.

Generally, the more CFM you have the more leaks, holes, cracks and porous wood you can make up for. 3 CFM is plenty in my case since the vacuumaster system is more-or-less leak free.

Other older Robinair 110v pumps to look for:

15101B - 5 CFM
15106B - 4.1 CFM
15108B - 5 CFM
15105B - 3 CFM
15120 - 10 CFM (yikes!)

I don't mean to hijack this thread but seeing as how your post seems to be answered Scott........I have several oil over air pumps 110 volt and 220 volt. I'm not sure what cfm they are rated at, but will they possibly work for air chucking?
