Just picked up this Freud LU83R010 (http://www.amazon.com/Freud-LU83R010-10-Inch-Tooth-Combination/dp/B00020JOAA/sr=8-1/qid=1172100062/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-0999559-7428763?ie=UTF8&s=hi) for $35.00 and change yesterday with free shipping from Amazon.com. Not sure on other blades (seems to be a promotion) but I am real happy. Note: Final price did not show up until it was almost to the point of that, you know, the final click:D.

Thanks for the heads up the Freud Blades, Greg. I have a question. What's the best Freud blade to use, among those that are shown on the link that you provided in your post, for crosscutting in order to achieve the smoothest cut possible? I've never owned a Freud blade. Please advise your opinion. Thank you.

Stephen,

Our best dedicated cut-off blade is the LU85 series:

For a General Purpose blade that gives crosscuts that are just as slick go with the P410:
http://www.freudtools.com/p-14-premier-fusionbr-nbsp.aspx

Or if you want to cut plywood and laminates as well as solid wood cut-offs (not as glass smooth as either of the two above but the best at preventing splintering/chipping) the LU80 series:
http://www.freudtools.com/p-15-ultimate-plywood-br-melamine.aspx

I just clicked on your link and followed it to check out. The price they're offering to me for this same blade that you referenced is $46.70. Still, that ain't a bad price.

Thanks again.

Thanks a lot Greg! I already have a Freud blade on my table saw and it works so well that I had been considering buying some more for my miter saw and radial arm. Plus I thought it might be nice to get a ripping blade for the TS. Thanks to you I now have 2 crosscut blades and 1 ripping blade coming to my house for what I think is a VERY low price. Add in free shipping and that last minute discount at checkout and I think I got a real steal. Thanks again, I need all the tool bargains I can get.

By the way, does anybody have any advice on how I should explain this to my wife? She isn't really an expert on saw blades. I just know she is going to ask, "But don't all of your saws already have blades?" :D

A new sharp blade is safer than an old dull one. It sounds good and its true.

Stephen,

What type of material do you want to crosscut? I've found the last blade that Mr. McCracken lists (LU80R010) to be my absolute favorite blade for cutting plywood, both ripping AND crosscutting. I can depend on the edges of my crosscuts to be flawless every time. It makes a perfect edge for mating up to face frame material. When I got it I did a test cut on some plywood. After one crosscut I shut off my Unisaw and went right in and ordered a spare. It's my favorite blade of the 18+ Freud blades that I own.

For crosscutting hardwood I will confirm Mr. McCracken's recommendation for the LU85R010. Great, reliable cuts as well.

I hope this answers your question also Keith. :D

I haven't tried the new Fusion yet but I've read only great reviews about it.

Yes it did. thankyou both for the recommendation. I don't have a crosscut blade and at 65.95 I couldn't pass up the Lu85R010.

You are welcome - you can set the blades up next to each other and show the different angles and tooth count. Positive hook to negative hook and what is good for a tablesaw comparied to a bla bla bla...safety etc...
Or do what I do and say hey - you have more than one pot don't ya....
Or as my friend says it is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission....:D
