I have a Ryobi R161 Router. I need to do some routing with a template, but I don't know what template bushing (if any) will fit the router.

The manual has nothing about it. Anywhere I can find out? All the bushing I can find say they fit all Porter Cable Routers.

woodcraft has a new router base plate that takes plastic bushings. That might work for you.

Good Luck

Mark,

There are usually two ways to deal with this:

(1) As Roger pointed out, you could get a different base that accepts the PC bushings (or the plastic ones he refers to) or

(2) There might be an adapter for your router that allows the PC bushings to screw in.

I read the website, and I just want to make sure this will work for any type of template, including those that I make myself. From what I gather, I think it is possible, and can't imagine why it wouldn't. It seems most template bushing all look alike other than the diameter for the bit.

Am I wrong on this?

Pretty much, that is the way it works... There are times that you may want to match the bushing size like when you are using the router to make a series of holes for shelves. I am sure others can add to this :)
