Another laminated project. This one I called "The fish plate". 300mm diameter and 30mm deep, made from Queensland maple. The "fish" pine and red cedar and the outer rim is Cooktown ironwood. The platter finished 6mm thick.

Wow! These complex laminations really have a neat effect. And they do look like little fish!

The contrast between the two woods is also very nice.

A beautiful design once again Jim! Love the way the wood plays with the light! Looking forward to your next post!

Jim, I'm not often "drawn" to segmentation work with a few exceptions and this is one of them. This piece is outstanding in my eyes. Thanks for sharing it!

I had to look at a conversion chart to find out that this was about 13 inches in diameter, right? I like it for all the reasons above, and for the overall appeal.

Fantastic, mate! So how do you hold the tight radial tolerances required to keep the circumferential glue lines so invisible? I am in awe.

Thanks folks for all the kind remarks. Just tell me when you have had enough. :) There are a few more around the house. My wife keeps asking when is she going to get her cupboards back.... ;)
