the metal roof on our house is secured with the course thread, rubber grommeted screws that are standard on metal roofs. the problem is that the screws in several areas keep backing out. we tighten them, and a month or two later, their a quarter to half inch out. the roof decking is 7/16 osb. have considered using some type of waterproof glue to fill the holes, then replace the screws, but am worried that the hardened glue will deflect the screws or the screws will bypass the glue and go in at an angle. does anyone have any suggestions or should we start collecting old buckets, pots and pans for when it rains? any and all suggestions will be appreciated:confused:

Take the screw out, inject some clear silcone, then drive the screw back in.

If they screws go into some thing more than the OSB use a longer , say 1/2" , screw along with the silcone. It should act like locktight preventing the backing out issue.

Don't, or try not to , over fill the holes , you don't want a bunch of silcone blobs on the roofing.

Good luck.
