I have a Craftsman/King Seeley lathe model #103.23070 that needs a face plate. I have the old one but the threads are stripped out. Anyone know where I might find a replacement? Or what the thread is on the spindle and I could maybe get a machine shop to fix the one I have. Thanks

If it's the 9" model the threads are 3/4-16. Fairly stock threads. A face plate and adapter are available from Rockler.

Measure the diameter of the spindle. If its 3/4" and now measure the threads. If there are 8 threads in 1/2" (double it for 1") you have a 3/4" - 16 spindle. As stated above this is a very common face plate mount. Quite a few woodworking stores carry face plate of different sizes for that mount. And for the price, you can probably get a new one for the cost of having one welded and re threaded.

check out www.pennstateind.com (http://www.pennstateind.com) or www.grizzly.com (http://www.grizzly.com) both will have very affordable replacements in any size that you need.

David,

I have that same lathe that I recently bought and the I picked up a face plate on ebay for $18 total with shipping. It is a 3/4 - 16 on the threads. Later.

David....You might post this over in the Turner's Forum and get a little more exposure and ideas.
