Well, they let me out of the mental institution for a few days so I thought I would turn a few pieces and give this post a swing. This is number 7 in a series titled "Flat Top" It is cherry dyed with Artisan Red Dye, finished with antique oil and beall buffed. The lid and finial are ebony. Measures 3-1/2" diameter x 7-3/4" overall height.

Keith:
Very nice - love the shape and the contrasting colors. Is the finial and lid all one piece of ebony?

Extremely happy to see you posting again Keith! Love your flat top series - opens my eyes and imagination to all sorts of shapes for hollow forms! Love the colors on this one - the rich red contrasting with the ebony black - just wonderful! Love your style of finial - never seen anything like it to date!
As always - inspirational! Looking forward to seeing more of your work real soon!

Nice work, glad you are turning, helps reduce crazy, you know my motto 'Sawdust is better than Prozac'
I am noticing that when I dye a piece and finish with Antique oil the I buff off color when I use the Beall system. Very noticable with the first wheel of red rouge.
I tend to dye, dye, oil, dye, oil over the course of a couple hours in an attempt to build depth of color in the finish. The layers may be my problem. Any thoughts?
