I have an electric leaf blower sitting around doing nothing and was wondering if it was worth putting one of these together.

Pretty interesting. I imagine a) the cfm is small compared to a 3/4 hp or larger dc or even a shopvac, and b) after you account for the price of a good filter 'bag' the price'd exceed that of a shopvac.

I'm all for economizing and reusing what you have around, but personally, I wouldn't mess around with DC. It's just too important to hack when there are many other economical, effective solutions if yr willing to bang a filter bag and roll one around.

Its been a long time but I have used a small gas blower that had a reversible mount so it could be used as a leaf vac. It was much more powerful than an electric one and I don't think it would have made a good dc. I just don't think it would pull enough air. I would get a cheapo at harbor freight.
