Just picked up this piece of bubinga yesterday. I have one coat of tung oil on it so far. Measures 19" X 48". The rest of the board (which I couldn't afford) was about 12 feet long

Very nice piece of bubinga, one of my favorites to work with.

I say go back and get the rest of that board.;)

The Kansas City Woodcraft store has two or three incredible pieces of Bubinga.

One was natural edge and about 36 inches wide by about five or six feet long. Sap wood on the edges and everything.

$50 a board foot so it would about a $900 for the board.

Some other Creekers turned me on to Owl Lumber in Des Plaines Illinois recently. I made the trip this afternoon and they have slabs of waterfall Bubinga that are simply amazing..it made the board I saw at our local Woodcraft (which I thought was really nice) look like a piece of reject firewood...they had a whole bunk full of highly figured Bubinga in 4/4/, 8/4, random widths, ranging from 4' to 14 ft long....they had at least four or five boards that were 6/4 or maybe 8/4, about 15 feet long and 2 to 3 feet wide..a couple were live edge..one had a sold tag on it and was going to a local cabinetry shop......but what took the cake was a full trunk section about 5 inches thick and 4-5 feet across with a little sign saying "How about this for your next table!"..I didn't even bother to ask what the price was on any of the big stuff since I knew it was way beyond me....best road trip I've been on in a while...wish I took a camera...
